Bovisand Bay
“Happy New Year everyone…”
Stunning scenery from the accommodation overlooking the rugged southern bays. Very blowy, but you can’t beat New Year’s Day watching surfers and NYD swimmers
The accommodation was basic but perfect for what we needed.
Bovisand Bay is a sheltered beach located in Devon, England. It is easily accessible from Plymouth and is known for its fine golden sand and low-rise cliffs. The beach is particularly wide when the tide is out, offering plenty of space for activities like sandcastle building and beachcombing. The shallow waters make it ideal for swimming, especially for young children. Additionally, the rock pools are a popular spot for exploring marine life.
Bovisand Bay is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, and it can get quite busy during peak season. There are parking facilities available, as well as a café and toilets. The bay is also a great starting point for walks along the South West Coast Path, offering stunning views of the surrounding coastline.
The views from the chalet are amazing (and the kitchen window when you are washing up!). We spent New Year in this beautiful, well equipped chalet. Even though the weather was wet and windy, watching the sea crashing against the rocks was just mesmerising. We had some lovely walks and New Year's Day was so mild we had coffee and read our kindles on a lovely bench overlooking the sea. The views are one of the best I have ever had in the various staycations I have had the last few years.
