After arriving at Nairobi we were quickly led to the Eka hotel. The security was top notch, and as Rooster was still not feeling great we got some sleep and chilled for a could of days waiting for the adventure to begin.

We thought this trip was a bit expensive, but how wrong we were. One of the highlights of the holiday. It was an early 5am start as we needed to catch the sunrise and after about an hour flight we landed for a breakfast in the middle of the Masai Mara – FABULOUS. The best of the Maasai Mara - Keekerok Lodge
After a couple of days at the Eka hotel in Nairobi we met our fellow travellers newlyweds James & Aimee Hill and Vincent & Annette McMonagle, what a great bunch. Oh and of coarse our driver Daniel. We headed to the Maasai Mara for our first suite safari and met the local Masai tribe in their village, Cola was convinced we were going to be eaten…. We stayed in the Keekrok Lodge for a couple of nights before again heading off to Lake Nakuru. We had an early morning trip for an ‘amazing’ hot air balloon flight and champagne breakfast.

The best of the Lake Nakuru - Nakuru Lodge
Not as keen on the Lodge, but a totally different looking landscape for the safari. We had a chance to see the pink flamingo’s and took a boat trip to the area used for the Out of Africa and Born Free films.

The best of the Amboseli - Ol Tukai Lodge
Out favourite of the three lodges – lovely pool and the restaurant was amazing. The monkeys were everywhere and very cheeky. The Safari outlook was again very different with lots of wetlands where the animals were up to their ears in water and mud.

The best of the Mombasa - Baobab Beach & Spa resort
A slow drive back to Nairobi airport followed with a goodbye to our fellow travellers. The a flight down to Mombasa and a interesting drive through to our second week. A week of ‘chill’ by the pool with nothing but a cocktail and our kindles.
