I was a bit worried about our stay given the mixed reviews in here. We had a suite which was absolutely delightful and so spacious.

All the staff were polite and friendly. We ate in the brasserie and really enjoyed our food. Breakfast was good quality and plentiful.

The only slight niggle was the bar which lists drinks but not prices. We didn’t want to ask the prices and we didn’t want to chance paying extortionate amounts so we left. If the prices had been printed and were reasonable we would definitely have stayed for a drink.

We checked out at 10.30 and then went on a great walk to Beeston Castle which was wonderful. After nearly 5.5 miles we had definitely walked off breakfast!!

Firstly I have to say the reception staff are very friendly and informative.

The room we had was spacious with a small hallway separating it from a large bathroom which had a bath and very good shower.

As other reviewers have said the decor is very tired. We had a view over a car park but I’m firmly of the view you get what you pay for. We paid £435 for four nights including breakfast. To me that represents amazing value so yes the room was tired, yes the view was dire but we didn’t pay for gold taps!!

The breakfast was really good, plenty of choice. We paid for parking which was also very reasonable although we did worry whether we would still have a space after a day’s sightseeing which made us a little nervous about taking the car out, so we only did it the once.

The Thai next door was really good.

They don’t have house keeping every day but actually we didn’t mind that. On the third day we had all clean towels and bedding. The tea, coffee, biscuits and water were also completely replenished which was a nice surprise.

If you want somewhere to stay that is amazing value then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.
