Port Lympne

“Wedding night in a shed, really!!!!!”

No exotic honeymoon for us, but a night glamping at Port Lympne zoo. The ‘shed’ was like a Japanese torture hotbox, but at least we had use of the gold cart outside normal opening hours.

Destination Information

Port Lympne

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve is a famous 600-acre wildlife park in Kent, England, managed by the conservation charity The Aspinall Foundation. Home to over 900 rare and endangered animals—including Western lowland gorillas, big cats, and the UK’s largest breeding herd of black rhinos—it focuses heavily on animal welfare and breeding for rewilding.

Visitors can explore walking trails, experience an open-air truck safari across the Kentish savannah, and view life-sized animatronic models in Dinosaur Valley. Port Lympne is also renowned for its historic Edwardian mansion and luxury overnight stays, featuring unique lodges directly alongside animal enclosures.
